George Stathopoulos is a Greek painter. Born in 1944 at Kalithea Trichonidos. He studied painting and sculpture from 1966 to 1971 at the School of Fine Arts by teachers Giannis Moralis, Nikow Nikolaou, Giannis Pappas and Dimitris Kalamaras. He lives and works in Athens.

Art should entertain people and not torture them. That is what they get in real life. The aim of art is to lead the spirit to another place. I want my art to be an exaple to be imitated - not one to be avoided. I try by my work to approach the beauty of life. Beauty for my is the ideal.

Love lives and thrives always. It has no need of slogans or demonstrations. It blossoms by itself and nothing is able to stop it. We are obliged to praise it in painting, in mousic. That is the painter's anguish; to be able to express it.
