Athanasios Christou was born in 1945 in Northern Greece. In recent years he lives and works in Veroia,

He has travelled abroad and has enriched various private collections and foreign galleries with his paintings. He has many solo and group exhibitions to his credit. The fact that he is known as a marine painter to the general public does not mean that he does not equally love other subjects, such as landscapes, flowers, portraits, remaining true to his personal style.

An accomplished artist with a design ability for the range of colour and a sensitivity to capturing the sea in all its natural moments.  He has managed to marry warm and cool colours in his own artistic way. His works can be found in private and public collections.
