Papatheodorou Grigoris was born in Agrinio in 1929 and grew up in Patra and passed away in April 2022.
He was professionally involved in all branches of art, such as signage, giant posters, shop & church decorations and hagiographies.
On a cultural level, he worked on theatre sets. From 1955 to 1966 he was the chief builder for the Carnival of Patra.
He also painted works that expressed his inner world.
In 1960-70 he made giant posters for the cinema industry in Patra.
In 1970 he was recognized on a wide European level, particularly in London an exhibition was organized in his name ( Galleri Agora 1970 ) which was a great success. Immediately afterwards the Australian airline QANTAS undertook to present his works in various parts of the world.
After this first great success he held a series of solo exhibitions (Athens-Patras-London-London-Stockholm-Thessaloniki) as well as a number of group exhibitions.
He has received many awards, including:
In 1978 he received the first Mediterranean Tourism and Culture Award.
In 1978 he received a letter from the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge requesting his biography.
His name is listed in the London "Who's Who".
He is a member of the Chamber of Fine Arts of Greece and in 1990 he was elected President of the Patras Artists' Association of Visual Arts.
He has been honoured by the Municipality of Patras for his artistic contribution as well as by the Naval Administration and the Naturalist Association of Patras and other Associations.
Gregory Papatheodorou was a founding member of the Association and was honoured as Honorary President of the Patras Fine Arts Association “Kostis Palamas” for his artistic contribution and action.
