Thanasis Georgatzopoulos (1945 - 2001) was born in Almyros Magnesia. He studied Medicine at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Painting at the School of Fine Arts.
The work of the painter Thanasis Georgandzopoulos maintained a strong personal element until the end of his life. His painting has a special character combining the expressionist mood with surrealist thinking. The art of Thanasis Georgandzopoulos is the externalization of the artist's feelings of the universal perception of things, given with a very personal style.
His work has been presented in exhibitions in Greece and abroad. His paintings are housed in the collections of the National Gallery, the Vorre Museum, the Ministry of Culture, the Municipalities of Athens, Piraeus, Volos, Lamia, Almyros, Thessaloniki, Amfissa.
